About us at Move4words

Move4words Director:

Dr Elizabeth McClelland (PhD)

Elizabeth, also known as Buffy, is a former University Lecturer in Geophysics, Environmental Sciences and Volcanology at the University of Oxford. She was a highly respected scientist in the field, and held a Royal Society Research Fellowship for 10 years.

Following a severe viral infection in 1998, Elizabeth developed an acquired dyslexia, finding it almost impossible to read complicated documents. After two difficult years, she eventually found a solution and used sensory training, which lead to a major sea-change in her career.

From 2001 to 2009, she ran a private clinic for children and adults with learning challenges, using sensory development techniques. During this time, she gradually developed the methodology which has become Move4words.

Since 2006, Elizabeth has been involved in running school trials of large-group sensory awareness programmes culminating in the current Oxford trials of Move4words. She has written and produced the complete Move4words programme including all video and audio production.

Elizabeth still retains a Geophysics research link with Dr Conall Mac Niocaill at Oxford University and is Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Earth Sciences, Oxford University.
